Sustainability
Port Albert Fishing Club has a vision to ensure that our grandchildren and even their grandchildren can enjoy the fun of recreational fishing, not only in Victorian waters, but all-around Australia. As such we promote catch and release in every aspect of our recreational fishing activities.
Without conscious governance now, we may end up with closed seasons as has happened in other states, for a number of popular species i.e. King George Whiting, Snapper. We do not want to see that happening.
The club is committed to abiding and exceeding VFA recommendations in terms of legal fish size and bag limits.
In many cases our current species sizes are greater than VFA legal sizes by at least 2cm and some are greater. Bag limits are there for a reason and as more and more people go fishing, there is a high likelihood that bag limits will get smaller...
In Short:
-
To provide social and recreational opportunities for recreational anglers and their families in a safe and supportive environment.
-
To encourage and promote sustainable reactional fishing practices by sharing knowledge and abiding with catch limits and sizes as defined by the Victorian Fishing Authority (VFA), and
-
To represent and advocate for recreational anglers through affiliated organizations i.e. VRFish and various government agencies.
